Tigers Move Up In New Baseball Rankings

After winning two of three in a top 25 ACC weekend series at home against Georgia Tech, Clemson’s national rankings improved in two of the three major college baseball polls Monday. The Tigers are ranked as high as #14, down one spot in Collegiate Baseball. Clemson moved up 7 spots to #18 in Baseball America. The Tigers cracked the USA Today Coaches Poll at #22.

Wynkoop SEC Freshman Of The Week Again

For the second consecutive week, South Carolina freshman left-hander Jack Wynkoop has been named SEC Freshman of the Week. Wynkoop followed up a solid performance last week with seven scoreless innings in a 4-0 victory at No. 2 LSU in the rubber game of a three-game series at Alex Box Stadium on ESPN. It marked the first series loss by the Tigers this year.

Gamecock Baseball Last Week

South Carolina went 2-2 this past week including a series victory at No. 2 LSU in SEC play at Alex Box Stadium. The Gamecocks are 33-12 on the year with a 13-8 record in the SEC. South Carolina is in second place in the SEC Eastern Division and fourth place overall in the conference standings.

Gamecocks Defeat #2 LSU 4-0 To Win Series

Freshman left-hander Jack Wynkoop hurled seven scoreless innings and combined with Adam Westmoreland and Tyler Webb for a six-hit shutout as 10th ranked South Carolina defeated second ranked LSU 4-0 on Sunday afternoon to win the rubber game of a three-game SEC series at Alex Box Stadium.

Gamecocks Even Series With #2 LSU

Tanner English broke a 2-2 tie with a RBI triple in the top of the ninth inning and scored on a balk as 10th ranked South Carolina defeated second ranked LSU 4-2 on Saturday evening at Alex Box Stadium. The rubber game of the series is set for 3 p.m. ET and will be televised live on ESPN.

Six Gamecocks Taken On Final Day Of NFL Draft

South Carolina had six players selected on the final day of the NFL Draft on Saturday, bringing the Gamecocks’ total to seven players taken during the three-day event. It matches the 2009 Gamecock draft class with the most players the program has had taken in the draft since nine were chosen in 1954.

Clemson Fails To Sweep Georgia Tech

Behind a 10-run fifth inning, #19 Georgia Tech defeated #13 Clemson 14-9 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets, who snapped their six-game losing streak, improved to 28-16 overall and 12-12 in the ACC. The Tigers, who won the series 2-1, fell to 30-14 overall and 15-9 in ACC play.
