Glover 1 Off Lead After Zurich Classic 1st Round

Ricky Barnes birdied six of the last eight holes Thursday at rain-softened TPC Louisiana to take a one-stroke lead at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans after the first round. Boo Weekley and former Clemson Tiger Lucas Glover were a stroke back, and D.A. Points and Morgan Hoffmann each shot 66.

Gamecocks Travel To #2 LSU For Weekend Series

South Carolina (31-11, 11-7 SEC) begins a three-game series at LSU (38-4, 15-3 SEC) on Friday night. First pitch for the opener is at 8 p.m. ET. Game two of the series is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. First pitch for Sunday’s series finale is 3 p.m. ET with the game televised live on ESPN.

Weather Alters Clemson-Ga Tech Series

Due to the threat of inclement over the weekend, the Clemson vs. Georgia Tech baseball series will now have the following schedule: Game 1 Friday 2:30 PM, Game 2 Friday 7:00 PM (CSS), Game 3 Saturday 6:30 PM (forecast calls for rain on Saturday, so an updated decision on this game time will be made on Friday).

NFL Draft Kicks Off Thursday

The NFL Draft starts Thursday on ESPN at 8 p.m. with the first round of the draft, while the second and third round will be Friday at 6:30 p.m., and the final rounds (four through seven) will be on Saturday at noon. While there are no former Gamecocks are projected to go in the first there are several that have been projected to be selected through out the entire draft with the highest projection to be safety D.J. Swearinger in the second round.

Clemson Cruises By W. Carolina 12-1

The #13 Clemson Tigers totaled a season-high 17 hits in their 12-1 win over Western Carolina at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Wednesday night. The Tigers, who earlier defeated the Catamounts 12-9 in Cullowhee, NC on April 9, improved to 28-13 on the season. Western Carolina fell to 27-17 in 2013. The loss snapped the Catamounts’ eight-game winning streak that started after Clemson’s win in Cullowhee.
