Clemson’s Kelly and Cooper Have Torn ACLs

Starting tight end Sam Cooper and reserve quarterback Chad Kelly both suffered torn ACL injuries during Clemson’s Spring Football Game this past Saturday. The injuries happened in the first quarter just nine plays apart in the contest at Memorial Stadium. Head Coach Dabo Swinney made the announcement on Monday afternoon.

South Carolina won one of our games last week with a 6-5 win at The Citadel. The Gamecocks were swept on the road at Florida. The Gamecocks are 27-10 on the year with an 8-7 record in the SEC. At the midway point in league play, South Carolina is tied for second in the SEC Eastern Division and tied for fourth place overall in the conference standings.

Walk-Off Home Run Gives Clemson 10th Straight Win

Freshman Steven Duggar’s two-run, walkoff homer with two outs in the 11th inning lifted #17 Clemson to a 6-4 win over Wake Forest in front of 4,870 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers, who swept the series 3-0 and won their 10th game in a row, improved to 26-11 overall and 12-6 in the ACC. The Demon Deacons fell to 19-20 overall and 4-14 in ACC play.

South Carolina runners move on minus Lattimore

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The focus of South Carolina’s backfield the past three seasons began and ended with star tailback Marcus Lattimore. With the team record-holder for rushing touchdowns gone, young runners Mike Davis and Brandon Wilds know it’s on their shoulders to keep the Gamecocks’ ground game going strong.

Rosenberg Out 6-8 Weeks With Injury

South Carolina senior catcher Dante Rosenberg is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks due to a broken hamate bone in his left wrist. Rosenberg suffered the injury on Friday evening at Florida during batting practice. He will undergo surgery this week.

Defense Wins SC State Spring Game

The South Carolina State defense outscored the offense 15-7 Saturday in the Bulldogs’ annual Garnet and Blue spring football game at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. The defense, which received points using a special scoring system, limited the offense to just one touchdown, a two-yard scoring run by sophomore running back Julius Pendergrass early in the third quarter.
