Gamecocks Host Charleston Southern Tonight

South Carolina (22-6) is back in action on Tuesday night hosting Charleston Southern (11-16) at Carolina Stadium. First pitch is at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on SportSouth with Andy Demetra and Trey Dyson on the call. It can also be heard on the Gamecock Radio Network from IMG College including flagship station, 107.5 FM, “The Game.” Derek Scott and Tommy Moody will handle the radio broadcast.

Tigers Top #1 UNC In 11 Innings To Avoid Sweep

Garrett Boulware’s groundout scored Jay Baum in the 11th inning to lift Clemson to a 5-4 win over #1 North Carolina in front of 3,205 fans at Boshamer Stadium on Monday night. The Tigers, who won their 16th all-time game over a top-ranked team, improved to 17-11 overall and 6-6 in the ACC. The Tar Heels, who won the series 2-1, fell to 25-2 overall and 9-2 in ACC play.

Bradley’s MLB Debut A Red Sox Success

Former Gamecock Jackie Bradley Jr. walked three three times, scored twice and made one highlight reel catch in his Major League debut to help the Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 8-2. It’s the Yankees’ first home Opening Day loss since 1982.

Tar Heels Take Clemson Series With 6-2 Win

Righthanders Benton Moss and Trent Thornton combined to allow just six hits, two unearned runs, and one walk with 13 strikeouts to lead #1 North Carolina to a 6-2 win over Clemson at Boshamer Stadium in a game that started Sunday and ended Monday due to inclement weather. The Tar Heels, who took a 2-0 series lead, improved to 25-1 overall and 9-1 in the ACC. The Tigers dropped to 16-11 overall and 5-6 in ACC play.

Gamecock Baseball Notes

South Carolina reached the halfway point of the 2013 regular season after this past week’s games. The Gamecocks went 4-0 last week with a 3-1 win at College of Charleston and a weekend sweep of Texas A&M. The Gamecocks are now 22-6 on the year with a 5-4 record in the SEC. South Carolina host Charleston Southern on Tuesday night, travels to Greenville to face Furman at Fluor Field on Wednesday with a weekend series set at Tennessee for the weekend.
