Gamecocks Work 9-5 Win At The Citadel

Fifth ranked South Carolina belted three home runs and freshman left-hander Jack Wynkoop allowed just two runs on five hits in 5.1 innings to earn his fourth win of the year as the Gamecocks defeated The Citadel 9-5 at Riley Park in front of 5,838 fans on Tuesday evening. The Gamecocks improved to 18-3 with The Citadel now 14-8 on the year.

Clemson Mashes Morehead St. 10-5

Garrett Boulware’s three-run homer capped a six-run fourth inning in Clemson’s 10-5 win over Morehead State at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Tuesday night. The Tigers improved to 12-7, while the Eagles fell to 7-13. It was the first meeting between the two teams since 1997.

SC State Kicks Off Spring Practice

The South Carolina State football team began preparing for its 12-game 2013 schedule Tuesday morning with the first of 15 spring workouts. Approximately 85 players were on hand for the 6:45 a.m. drill, which was conducted in shorts and helmets

Ieasia Walker Makes AP All-SEC 2nd Team

South Carolina senior guard Ieasia Walker earned a spot on the Associated Press’ All-SEC Second Team, the organization announced today. Sophomore forward Aleighsa Welch was tabbed a league honorable mention. The pair will lead the Gamecocks (24-7) into the program’s 10th NCAA Tournament appearance this weekend, taking on South Dakota State on Sat., March 23, at 4:10 p.m. (ET) in Boulder, Colo.

Gamecock Baseball Heads To The Citadel Tonight

South Carolina (17-3) is back in action on Tuesday night traveling to Charleston, S.C. for a non-conference contest with The Citadel (14-7). First pitch at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park is set for 7 p.m. ET. USC Women Get NCAA Tourney #4 Seed

South Carolina (24-7) earned a No. 4 seed in its 10th berth in the NCAA Tournament and will face Summit League champion, 13th-seeded South Dakota State (25-7) on Saturday, March 23, at 4:10 p.m. ET, with the contest set to be televised on ESPN2 at the Boulder, Colo., site in the event’s opening round. The Gamecocks are in the Norfolk Region. Host, and fifth-seeded Colorado and No. 12 seed Kansas will square off in the other game at the site with the winners meeting on Monday, March 25, with the time for that contest to be announced. South Carolina owns a 10-9 record all-time in the NCAA Tournament.

UVa Takes Clemson Series With 8-5 Sunday Win

The #12 Virginia Cavaliers scored five combined runs in the first two innings and withstood a Tiger comeback in their 8-5 win over Clemson in front of 4,919 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers, who won the series 2-1, improved to 17-2 overall and 4-2 in the ACC. The Tigers dropped to 11-7 overall and 3-3 in ACC play.

Clemson Baseball To Host Two With Morehead St.

Clemson (11-7) will host Morehead State (7-12) in a two-game, midweek series on Tuesday and Wednesday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Game times are 6:30 PM (Tuesday) and 4:00 PM (Wednesday). Both games will be available live via webcast on TigerCast at ClemsonTigers.com. Both games will also be broadcast live on the radio by WCCP (104.9 FM) out of Clemson. Patrick Davis To Play Before USC Spring Game

The Gamecock Club will be hosting its annual Kickoff FanFest before and after the annual Garnet & Black Spring Game, to be held Saturday, April 14. The pre-game FanFest activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be located in the Gamecock Village at the front of the Farmers Market, across the street from the stadium.
