Gamecocks Roll Over Rider 9-5 In Game Two

Sixth ranked South Carolina pounded out 13 hits including a pair of homers from Connor Bright and Joey Pankake as the Gamecocks defeated Rider 9-5 on Saturday afternoon in game two of a three-game series. The Gamecocks improve to 12-2 with Rider dropping to 6-3 for the season.

Clemson Takes 2nd Straight At NC State

Thomas Brittle’s grand slam in the second inning coupled with clutch pitching that stranded 15 runners on base lifted Clemson to a 7-4 win over #8 N.C. State in front of 1,877 fans at Doak Field on Saturday. The Tigers, who took a 2-0 series lead, improved to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the ACC. N.C. State fell to 11-4 overall and 0-2 in ACC play.

Vandy Upends USC In Regular Season Finale

South Carolina (14-17, 4-14 SEC) dropped their regular season finale to Vanderbilt (14-16, 8-10 SEC) 74-64 at Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. For the second game in a row, junior guard Brenton Williams led South Carolina offensively, scoring 17 points.

Clemson Rowing Off To Good Start

The Clemson women’s rowing team finished first in three of five races on Saturday against Duke and Eastern Michigan on Lake Hartwell. Clemson’s 2nd Varsity 8+, 1st Varsity 4+ and Novice 8+ “A” each record first-place finishes to open the season.

Beal Helps Gamecocks Get 1-Hit Shutout

Sophomore righthander Evan Beal retired 14 consecutive batters at one point and combined with three Gamecock relievers for a one-hit shutout as sixth ranked South Carolina defeated Rider 2-0 on Friday night in game one of a three-game series at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks improve to 11-2 with Rider now 6-2 on the year.
