USC Women Crush Alabama 77-35

No. 17/14 South Carolina scored a 77-35 win over Alabama in the second round of the SEC Tournament Thursday afternoon behind a dominant showing from the Gamecock frontcourt. Sophomore center Elem Ibiam’s career-high 19 points led the way in the program’s largest margin of victory in an SEC Tournament game. Senior forward and second-team All-SEC selection Ashley Bruner netted a double-double that included a season-high 14 rebounds. The fifth-seeded Gamecocks (24-6) advance to take on No. 19/19 Texas A&M on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Williams Steals Senior Night Spotlight

South Carolina (14-16, 4-13 SEC) used an 18-5 run through the first 10 minutes of the second half to secure a 79-72 victory over Mississippi State (8-21, 3-15) at Colonial Life Arena on Senior Night in Columbia. Junior guard Brenton Williams scored a career high 38 points to lead the Gamecocks in the victory, which marked a new South Carolina record for points scored in an SEC regular season contest, and a new Colonial Life Arena record.
