Texas A&M Thumps Gamecocks 74-56

After being tied 32-32 at the half, South Carolina (13-16, 3-13 SEC) fell to Texas A&M (16-12, SEC) 74-56 on Saturday night in SEC play. Freshman forward Michael Carrera scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Gamecocks.

Benedict Wins SIAC Tournament Again

Benedict clinched an automatic berth to the Division II tournament Saturday night with a 68-60 win over Morehouse in the SIAC tournament championship game. Marcus Goode scored 17 points and was named Most Valuable Player.

Green Leads Va Tech Over Clemson 69-61

Clemson erased an 11-point halftime deficit to pull within two points in the second half on a couple of occasions, but Virginia Tech converted 15 out of 18 from the free throw line in the second half to close out a 69-61 victory on the Hokies’ Senior Night at Cassell Coliseum. With the win, Virginia Tech improved to 13-16 on the season, 4-12 in the ACC. Clemson fell to 13-15 overall, 5-11 in league play.

Clemson Wins 6-3, Evens Up Rivalry Series

Seventh ranked South Carolina cut a five-run deficit down to a pair of runs heading into the ninth inning but Clemson added an unearned run in the top of the ninth and set down the Gamecocks in order in the bottom half to defeat the Gamecocks 6-3 in the Reedy River Rivalry contest at Fluor Field in front of a crowd of 7,125 fans. Carolina is now 7-2 with Clemson 6-3 on the year. The rubber game of the series is set for Sunday at Carolina Stadium.
