The Gamecocks begin the 2013 season on Friday, Feb. 15 hosting a three-game series vs. Liberty at Carolina Stadium. Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball also ranked South Carolina No. 7 with Perfect Game USA ranking the Gamecocks No. 11 earlier this week.
South Carolina is ranked No. 7 in the nation in the Baseball America Preseason Top 25 as announced on Thursday morning. This is the third preseason ranking to be released as Collegiate Baseball also ranked South Carolina No. 7 in their poll released in December with Perfect Game USA ranking the Gamecocks No. 11 earlier this week.

The best high school baseball teams in the state’s top classification play in the Midlands, at least according to the preseason South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association AAAA poll.

The Gamecocks men’s basketball team is 11-7 (1-4 SEC) after Tuesday night’s 71-65 loss at #22 Missouri. USC lead by eight points at halftime before allowing 44 points and being outscored by 14 in the second half. The second half has been unkind to the Gamecocks all season long.

Earnest Ross and Jabari Brown hit key 3-pointers in the final 1:11 and No. 22 Missouri overcame 5-for-27 shooting from long range and a 13-point second-half deficit to beat South Carolina 71-65 on Tuesday night.
