SC State Football Ready To Rally

Tuesday is the first day of classes at SC State so the Bulldogs will not practice, however, they will attend the annual “Rally on the Square,” a yearly pep rally sponsored by the City of Orangeburg and the Chamber of Commerce to kick off the football season. The event, which will feature appearances by the SC State Marching 101 band and cheerleaders, as well as teams and cheerleaders from area high schools, begins at 6:30 p.m. on the square in downtown Orangeburg. It’s open to the public.

Buscher Returns To Carolina Baseball

Former major leaguer and USC All-American Brian Buscher is the last piece of Chad Holbrook’s new Carolina Baseball coaching staff. Buscher was officially announced as the Gamecocks’ volunteer assistant coach Monday. Former volunteer assistant coach Sammy Esposito has been promoted to recruiting coordinator.

Stoudt Wins Clemson Backup QB Job

After Monday’s practice, Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris said Cole Stoudt has beaten out Morgan Roberts and Chad Kelly for the backup quarterback role. He thought Kelly did a good job pushing Stoudt and Roberts in camp and made a strong case for perhaps being used this season if need be.

SCSU Holds 2nd Scrimmage Of Camp

In the scrimmage, which lasted approximately two hours, the Bulldog coaching staff played three quarterbacks and also closely watched the performance of its placekicker and punter in the likelihood, projected starter Nick Belcher, who is nursing a calf injury, is not ready for the Aug. 30 season opener at Georgia State.
