Clemson Wins Series Opener At Duke 4-1

Jon McGibbon led off the 11th inning with a triple and scored the first of three runs in the frame to lead Clemson to a 4-1 victory over Duke in front of 1,582 fans at Jack Coombs Field on Friday night. The Tigers, who took a 1-0 series lead, improved to 16-14 overall and 6-7 in the ACC. The Blue Devils fell to 13-18 overall and 5-8 in ACC play.

South Carolina freshman forward Anthony Gill has been granted permission to contact other NCAA institutions to discuss a potential transfer, Gamecock head coach Frank Martin announced on Friday. The permission to contact was not restrictive to specific institutions.

USC Shuts Out Charleston 7-0

Junior left-hander Adam Westmoreland combined with relievers Tyler Webb and Nolan Belcher in a four-hit shutout and the 10th ranked Gamecocks belted out 13 hits on the way to a 7-0 victory over College of Charleston on Wednesday night at Patriots Point in Charleston, S.C. The Gamecocks are 21-8 on the year while the loss drops the Cougars to 21-9 for the season. It marked the second shutout of the year for South Carolina.

W. Carolina Clocks Clemson 13-8

Western Carolina took a one-run lead with four unearned runs in the sixth inning and added four more runs in the seventh inning to top Clemson 13-8 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Wednesday. The Catamounts, who won both games of the home-and-home season series against Clemson, improved to 21-9. The Tigers, who suffered their first loss of the season by more than four runs, dropped to 15-14 in 2012.
