Gamecocks take opening series with VMI

The University of South Carolina baseball team completed their series against VMI with a 9-0 shutout on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 18). A combined effort from a pitching staff that allowed just two hits and strong performances at the plate gave the Gamecocks the series win over the Keydets to start the season.

Gamecocks host Kentucky, seek season sweep Sunday

No. 8/8 South Carolina begins its final week of home games for the season Sunday against Kentucky. Tipoff at Colonial Life Arena is set for 3 p.m. on SEC Network. The Gamecocks (21-5, 10-3 SEC) have three games remaining this season, including two against teams also competing for one of the coveted top four seeds in the SEC Tournament, which begins Feb. 28 in Nashville.

Holden Leaves Men’s Basketball Team

University of South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin announced on Saturday that junior guard Kory Holden has made the decision to no longer be part of the Gamecock men’s basketball program. Holden has seen action in 14 games this season, missing 11 contests due to a hamstring strain suffered in late December. Holden transferred to Carolina after two seasons at Delaware prior to the 2016-17 campaign.
