Gamecocks host Kentucky, seek season sweep Sunday

No. 8/8 South Carolina begins its final week of home games for the season Sunday against Kentucky. Tipoff at Colonial Life Arena is set for 3 p.m. on SEC Network. The Gamecocks (21-5, 10-3 SEC) have three games remaining this season, including two against teams also competing for one of the coveted top four seeds in the SEC Tournament, which begins Feb. 28 in Nashville.

Holden Leaves Men’s Basketball Team

University of South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin announced on Saturday that junior guard Kory Holden has made the decision to no longer be part of the Gamecock men’s basketball program. Holden has seen action in 14 games this season, missing 11 contests due to a hamstring strain suffered in late December. Holden transferred to Carolina after two seasons at Delaware prior to the 2016-17 campaign.

Gamecock softball open homestand Friday

South Carolina softball continues its 2018 season this weekend when the Gamecocks return home to Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field to play host to the Gamecock Invitational Friday through Sunday. Action begins Friday at 5:00 PM ET against Michigan State and continues Saturday at 5:30 PM ET against Southern Illinois. Tournament action concludesSunday against Georgetown at 12:30 PM ET and Mercer at 3:00 PM ET.
