Starting the school year in August, Kershaw County School District experienced a spike in COVID cases.
Lexington Two reinstated a mask mandate. This is something the governor continues to speak against.
In just the first week of school, Lexington One School District saw more than 300 COVID cases. This number is more than in any week in the previous school year.
Despite results that are lower than previous years in English and math, there were areas of improvement shown by Richland One School District.
The governor’s stance has been consistent, as has that of Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin. Earlier this summer, he announced a city wide mask mandate for 43 elementary and middle schools in the city.
Hopkins Middle School’s principal is happy with the district’s decision to have a mask mandate.
