SC House Votes to Give Amazon Tax Break

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Amazon gets the tax break. In a major turn around Wednesday, South Carolina House members voted to approve tax exemptions for online retailer Amazon. This vote is an about face from earlier in the month when lawmakers handily voted down the tax exemption. Lawmakers say Amazon upped the ante and promised additional jobs for the state. That promise played a role in reversing the earlier no vote, say proponents. Representative Kenny Bingham spoke with ABC Columbia News, and he’s been helping lead the renewed effort to bring Amazon back. Bingham told lawmakers that Amazon was promising to create at least 2,000 full-time jobs.
