Body of missing swimmer washes up in Myrtle Beach
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — The body of a missing swimmer has washed ashore in Myrtle Beach.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says the body of 25-year-old Lakelyon Horton was found early Monday near the beach. Police did not have a hometown for the victim.
Beach patrol officials say they received a call about two swimmers in the water yelling for help at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. One of the swimmers made it to shore, but officials lost sight of the other.
Police searched by water and air for the swimmer Saturday evening but found nothing. Officials aren’t sure why the swimmers were in distress, but ocean conditions were rough, with a storm passing through the area.
