Heat threatens SC coast, Midlands, Pee Dee
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Heat advisories have been issued for the South Carolina coast and midlands and Pee Dee as temperatures are expected to hover around 100 degrees.
The National Weather Service issued heat advisories Monday for 24 counties essentially stretching east of a line from Darlington to Aiken. The warning about the dangers of hot conditions will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m.
Forecasters say heat index values of 105 are expected across the region and could go as high as 112 in some areas.
