10 hurt after car crashes into Williamston clinic

WILLIAMSTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say eight people in the waiting room of a family medical clinic in Williamston were injured after a car crashed into the building.

Anderson Emergency Medical Services spokesman Scott Stoller said four people were in critical condition and taken to a hospital in Greenville, while six more with less serious injuries were taken to a hospital in Anderson.

Authorities say the Chevrolet Cavalier ended up completely inside the waiting room of Williamston Family Medicine shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The two people inside the car also were injured.

Officials say doctors and nurses in the clinic tended to the injured until paramedics arrived four minutes later.

Williamston police are investigating how the car ended up in the lobby of and plan to release more information later in the afternoon.
