Greer man to serve 90 days for fatal crash

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — An 18-year-old Greer man is set to serve 90 days in jail for a 100-mph crash that killed his teenage passenger.

Solicitor Walt Wilkins says Ronald D. Nielsen was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to reckless homicide. He was sentenced to five years in prison, suspended to 90 days.

Prosecutors say Nielsen was the driver of a Honda Civic that was going 100 mph in March 2010 when it careened off a road in Greer, hitting a tree.

Authorities say 19-year-old Blue Ridge High School student Joshua Bryant was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.
