One man hurt, power out from SC storms

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — One man has been hurt after a tree fell on a recreational vehicle during a storm near Simpsonville.

Duke Energy reported that more than 1,400 customers were still without power Wednesday morning after the storms. Most of those without service were in York County.

Clear Spring Fire Chief Greg Merritt says firefighters worked about a half hour to free the man, who was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital. His name was not released and there was no immediate word on his condition.

The owner of the campground where the RV was parked said several trees were down.

Scott Krentz with the National Weather Service says trees were also reported down on homes and other buildings in the Gray Court and Fountain Inn area.
