2 Greenville residents charged with child neglect

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Two Greenville residents have been charged with child neglect after officers followed a trail of blood to an apartment.

Police say they found a 3-year-old girl with a cut on her foot and an apartment filled with dirt and decaying food.

Twenty-one-year-old Michaela Marie Weaver and 25-year-old Jason Graham Mitchem are each charged with four counts of child neglect.

Police Sgt. Jason Rampey says four children ranging in age from 9 months to 4-years-old have been placed in the custody of the Department of Social Services.

It was unclear if Weaver and Mitchem have attorneys.
