Bond set in wrong-way interstate death

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Bond has been set at more than $100,000 for a teen who was driving the wrong way on Interstate 26 and killed a Ladson woman.

The accident happened early Sunday where the interstate ends in Charleston.

Authorities have charged 19-year-old Samuel McCauley with reckless homicide and felony driving under the influence in the death of 72-year-old Eleanor Caperton.

McCauley is in custody in the hospital and bond of $107,000 was set Monday during a hearing at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital. It was not immediately clear if McCauley had an attorney.
