Teen in fatal SC crash transferred to jail
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A Mount Pleasant teen accused of killing a Ladson woman when he drove the wrong direction onto Interstate 26 has been transferred from a hospital to the Charleston County jail.
Nineteen-year-old Samuel McCauley is charged with reckless homicide and felony drunken driving in the wreck early Sunday.
Seventy-two-year-old Eleanor Caperton died in the crash.
McCauley had been taken to the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital after the wreck.
He was taken to the jail Tuesday where he’s being held on bail of more than $100,000.
