SC man admits kidnapping woman lured on Internet
WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (AP) — A South Carolina man accused of using the Internet to lure a woman with promises of a phony job at a horse farm, only to leave her unconscious and bound with duct tape in a motel, has pleaded guilty to federal kidnapping charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in Utica says 31-year-old Arnold Fox of Ravenel, S.C., admitted he placed an online ad that lured a 21-year-old woman to Pennsylvania. Several days later, he left her unconscious and assaulted in a motel in Weedsport, N.Y.
Fox admitted he stole the woman’s car, changed the plates, and fled to Florida where he was arrested by the FBI in Miami on Dec. 12, 2009.
He faces a maximum term of life in prison when he’s sentenced on Dec. 16 in Utica.
