Officers in NC, SC arrest 18 in 5-day operation
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Law enforcement officers in North and South Carolina seized more than $215,000 and arrested 18 on felony charges during an annual effort called Operation Rolling Thunder.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reports Saturday (http://bit.ly/nZddfW ) that four kilograms and cocaine and three kilograms of marijuana were seized during the five-day operation along interstates 85 and 26 in Spartanburg County.
Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright says 75 officers from 22 law enforcement agencies in the Carolinas participated in the task force. He says they issued 1,602 traffic citations and searched 178 vehicles. Those arrested included people from as far away as Texas and Oklahoma.
It was the sixth annual operation. Wright says Operation Rolling Thunder will be held again.
