SC’s tobacco heritage celebrated this weekend

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s rural tobacco history is being remembered by the Friends of the Horry County Museum.

The group is sponsoring the 7th annual Tobacco Heritage Festival in Conway on Saturday.

The event features hand tying and stringing of tobacco and other activities related to what was at one time the most valuable cash crop in South Carolina.

The event at the L. W. Paul Living History Farm also includes live music, children’s activities and interpretations of rural life in Horry County a century ago.
