Conway residents think pets are poisoned

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Some residents of Conway think their pets are being poisoned.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported ( ) that residents in one neighborhood think their animals have shown signs of antifreeze poisoning.

Cliff Clark says he’s lost three animals in the past two years, including a 10-month-old black lab Sunday.

Clark says several neighbors’ cats and dogs have died in the past few years and showed signs of poisoning.

Patti Meeks says she lost a golden hound two years ago.

Officials say antifreeze is attractive to dogs and cats.

Veterinarian Dr. Randy Werkhoven of Waccamaw Regional Veterinary Center says two of Clark’s animals died from different poisons.

Clark says he’s going to contact police about the deaths.
