Heritage foundation looks for more local sponsors
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — The foundation that runs the Heritage Classic PGA tournament on Hilton Head is looking for more local sponsors for next year’s tournament.
The Island Packet reports (http://bit.ly/ohb5RA ) the Heritage Classic Foundation hopes the new campaign will help replenish its depleted reserves.
The April tournament was played without a title sponsor after the foundation pledged all $4 million of its reserves. It also secured money commitments from local governments.
Tournament officials announced in June that the Heritage will continue on Hilton Head through 2016, with the Royal Bank of Canada as the new title sponsor. The Boeing Co. will be a local presenting sponsor.
The tournament will also be supported by the Town of Hilton Head Island.
