St. Matthews woman wins $200,000 in lottery

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Lottery officials say a Calhoun County woman won the top, $200,000 prize of a scratch-off ticket.

Lottery spokesman Holli Armstrong said in a release Wednesday that the St. Matthews woman had to wait for a day off from work to claim her prize, but thinking of ways to spend the money provided a welcome distraction during her weekend shift.

Armstrong says the winner decided in the end to use the money to pay bills.

The lottery isn’t naming the winner. She bought her $10 Strike It Rich ticket from a convenience store in Cayce. Only one top prize remains for that ticket. The odds of winning $200,000 are one in 480,000.
