46-year-old Anderson man’s body pulled from pond

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (AP) — The body of a 46-year-old Anderson man has been recovered from a pond in Laurens County.

Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols says Robert Peterson’s body was pulled from a Fountain Inn pond on Wednesday by a Department of Natural Resources dive team.

Nichols says an autopsy will have to determine exactly how Peterson died.

According to Laurens County Sheriff’s reports, Peterson’s estranged wife reported him missing Saturday night.

Deputies say a witness told them he spoke with Peterson as he sat near the pond, then watched Peterson jump in the water.

Authorities say Peterson drove to the pond in a vehicle reported stolen Saturday in Anderson County.
