Cops: Contraband found on 3 people near SC prison

BISHOPVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Lee County deputies say they have arrested three people who were getting ready to throw duct-taped packages of marijuana, alcohol, cell phones and chargers over the fence at a South Carolina prison.

Investigators told WIS-TV (http://bit.ly/n1bH6V ) that a deputy on patrol saw the suspects driving on a gravel road just outside the walls of Lee Correctional Institution last week. After stopping their car, he noticed several packages wrapped in duct tape, a common method to bundle contraband before it is tossed into the prison yard.

Deputies arrested 25-year-old Bridgette Neely and 21-year-old King Wilson of North Charleston and 24-year-old Julia Threatt of Awendaw. The three remain in jail on $10,000 bond. It wasn’t clear if they had attorneys.
