Patriots Point wants 10 percent visitor increase
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) — The executive director of the Patriots Point maritime museum in Mount Pleasant says he will resign if visitation to the attraction doesn’t increase 10 percent within three years.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (http://bit.ly/r3jCE9 ) that Mac Burdette made the pledge Wednesday during a meeting of the board of the Patriots Point Development Authority.
The board endorsed Burdette’s three-year plan to make the attraction featuring the aircraft carrier Yorktown more interactive with touch screen videos and other improvements.
The plan is to expand programs and events. It involves increasing spending by about 4 percent a year to increase revenues by 6 percent.
The Yorktown attracts about 260,000 visitors a year.
