SC dog finds human skull, brings it back to owner

LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a man in Lancaster found a skull in his backyard, which his dog dragged home after finding the remains of a woman in nearby woods.

Lancaster County deputies said the man called officers Tuesday after making the grisly find. Searchers located a skeleton missing a skull a short distance away.

Investigators think the bones might be from a 68-year-old woman last seen in the area a month ago. An autopsy will be needed to confirm the identity.

Authorities don’t think the person died from foul play.
