Coast Guard rescues 2 boaters off Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A Coast Guard helicopter has rescued two boaters from a motor yacht sinking south of Charleston.

The distress call came in late Sunday night. The two were rescued when the helicopter arrived at the scene about 11 miles south of Charleston Harbor early Monday.

Boaters James Kelvin and Henry Bonar were uninjured and on a trip from Charleston to Jacksonville, Fla., at the time.

The yacht was heavily damaged and will have to be raised by commercial salvage company.
