Coroner: Anderson woman in well died from drugs

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — A deputy coroner says an Anderson woman whose remains were found in a well last month died from a drug overdose.

The remains of 45-year-old Rebecca Lynn Simmons was found in a well near Interstate 85 on July 13. Simmons had been reported missing on May 31.

Deputy Coroner Don McCown says Simmons had been using methamphetamine. Her death has been classified as an accident.

Officials are still investigating because they think someone put her body in the 50-foot well beside an abandoned house.
