Irene Postpones USC Soccer Game

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Hurricane Irene has postponed the South Carolina men’s soccer match at the College of Charleston. The game at Patriots Points Athletic Complex in Mount Pleasant scheduled Friday night has been moved to Sunday evening because of the high winds expected as Hurricane Irene passes by South Carolina’s coast. The contest was supposed to be broadcast nationally on the Fox Soccer Channel. Presbyterian’s volleyball team canceled its trip to Greenville, N.C., to play in the East Carolina Classic this weekend. More than two dozen high school football games that were supposed to be held Friday were moved up to Thursday night. The affected games were largely at high schools near the state’s coast.
