LIST: Churches, businesses, and government offices close due to winter weather
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Due to conditions, the following have announced closures or delays.
All LRADAC offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 2
Richland County Offices Closed Monday, Feb. 2
Cooperative Health Offices will be closed on Monday, February 2nd.
South Carolina State Museum
Museum officials have announced that due to inclement weather, the South Carolina State Museum will be closed on Monday, February 2, to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.
The COMET
In a service update from The COMET, their fixed-route and DART will resume regular service on Monday, February 2, at approximately 8:00 a.m. Depending upon road conditions, expect possible delays. Please plan accordingly and stay safe.
***USC Transit powered by The COMET will NOT run on Monday, February 2. All other services will resume.
South Carolina Ballet
The South Carolina Ballet has moved its Midsummer Night’s Dream ballet performance due to the weather.
The new date for the performance will be next Friday, February 7, at 7 p.m. at the Koger Center.
Those holding matinee tickets for the previous date will be upgraded to premium seating for the new date.
Pelion American Legion Post 101
The weather has postponed the Great Pelion jail break that was set for this weekend.
The Pelion American Legion Post 101 announced they’ve moved it to next Saturday, Feb. 7.
It’ll take place at the Pelion Senior Center.
Fairfield County Recycling & Recreation Facilities
Due to the impact of Winter Storm Gianna, Fairfield County has closed all facilities and cancelled events for Monday, February 2nd, 2026.
Greater Target AME Church
Greater Target AME Church on 7248 Old State Road in Holly Hill has canceled church service on Sunday, Feb. 1.

Richland Library
Due to impending inclement weather, Richland Library will be closed on Saturday, January 31, 2026, and will remain closed on Sunday, February 1.
Library officials say there is a plan to resume normal business hours on Monday, February 2, if weather conditions permit it.
People can still access the library’s resources and information online.
City of Orangeburg
Due to inclement weather conditions, the City of Orangeburg will operate on a two-hour delayed start on Monday, February 2. Normal administrative hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; therefore, City Administration offices will open at 10:00 AM.
Emergency services will continue to operate as normal. The City will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide additional updates if necessary.
The Warming Shelter will remain open until 12:00 Noon on Monday, February 2, 2026.
City of Sumter
Out of an abundance of caution due to anticipated Winter weather, City of Sumter offices will operate on a delayed opening on Monday, February 2, opening at 12 p.m.
The city’s curbside junk removal week has been postponed and will now take place the week of February 9 to February 13, 2026.
Columbia VA Health Care System
Due to the Winter Storm Warning in effect, the following community-based outpatient clinics will open at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026: Anderson, Florence, Greenville, Orangeburg, Rock Hill, Spartanburg, and Sumter.
The Dorn VA Medical Center will remain open; however, outpatient procedures will be delayed until 10 a.m. on Monday.
Veterans with questions or concerns during this period can contact the Clinical Contact Center at 1-855-679-0214.
VA officials recommend that veterans use MyHealtheVet secure messaging to contact their health care team.
City of Cayce
- Cayce City offices will be open at 10:30 AM
- Cayce Sanitation will run on regular schedule
- The Cayce Riverwalk, Timmerman Trail & All Cayce Parks are CLOSED, but will be reassessed tomorrow morning
- The Legislative Work Session is canceled and will be rescheduled

City of Columbia
Due to the impacts of winter storm Gianna, City of Columbia facilities will be closed on Monday, February 2, 2026.
Public safety and other essential functions will operate as normal. For all emergencies, please call 911.
The City of Columbia Payment Center, Municipal Court, Parking Services and Washington Square will be closed. City parks, recreational and community centers will also be closed.
City of Columbia Solid Waste
City of Columbia Solid Waste Division will not provide garbage, recycling or yard trash collection services on Monday, February 2, 2026. All services will be pushed back one day, weather permitting.
· Monday, February 2 services will be scheduled for Tuesday, February 3.
· Tuesday, February 3 services will be scheduled for Wednesday, February 4.
· Thursday, January 5 and Friday, January 6 will remain on regular schedule.
Lexington Co. Solid Waste
- Edmund Landfill: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Edmund Collection Center: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.(Household trash only. All other items must go to the Edmund Landfill)
