3 named to Wofford athletic hall
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Former football star Katon Bethay heads up the newest group of inductees to the Wofford Athletic Hall of Fame.
The others selected were former track standout Adrien Borders and women’s tennis player Ellen Rogers. The school announced the honorees Thursday.
Bethay was a defensive lineman for the 2003 team that won the Southern Conference championship. He also excelled in the shot put, winning the Southern Conference indoor title in that event in 2003 and 2005.
Borders won conference titles in the triple jump and long jump in 2003. He added a second SoCon long jump crown in 2005. Borders also played basketball for the Terriers, averaging 9.5 points a game over four seasons.
Rogers was a four-time all-Southern Conference selection for women’s tennis.
