Conway woman charged with mistreated horse
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — A Conway woman has been arrested and accused of mistreating a horse that had to be euthanized.
Twenty-four-year-old Heather Martin was arrested after officials say they found a horse that was at least 400 pounds underweight.
Horry County Police Sgt. Robert Kegler says Martin is charged with ill treatment of animals.
Kegler says a warrant has been issued for the horse’s owner, 30-year-old Ervin Martin of Conway, on a charge of ill treatment of animals.
Police say Ervin Martin was out of town and told them his sister-in-law, Heather Martin, was caring for the horse he bought about two months ago.
