Woman killed in reported SC home invasion

PINEVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A 21-year-old woman was killed and a man wounded in an apparent home invasion in Berkeley County.

It happened in the Pineville community near St. Stephen early Monday.

County Coroner Bill Salisbury said 21-year-old Brittany Aigoro was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbor Mozelle Smith told the Post and Courier of Charleston a group of young people were at her house when they heard a knock on the door.

Her 25-year-old son looked out the window and ducked when he heard shots. He was wounded and treated and released from the hospital. Aigoro was hit by gunfire when she stood up.

Smith said she had no idea why the young people would be targeted.

Salisbury said it appeared to be a home invasion.

No arrests have been made.
