Development study outlines map for Beaufort County
BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) — A new study proposes that Beaufort County work more closely with Jasper County and with Savannah, Ga., in attracting business to South Carolina’s south coast.
The Beaufort Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/nXLcjF ) that the $40,000 study was commissioned by a task force created by county council earlier this year. It was compiled by AngelouEconomics, an Austin, Texas, consulting company.
The study suggested that Beaufort County strengthen ties with neighboring Jasper County and consider sharing tax revenue from job-creation programs.
It also suggested the county study ways to coordinate marketing efforts with Savannah, Ga.
The report also suggests that the county rewrite existing permitting and business review rules.
