Spurrier Not Big On Special Uniforms

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “Doesn’t look like Maryland’s outfit, does it? No, it’s not bad.” That’s Steve Spurrier’s reaction to this week’s uniform the Gamecocks will wear against Auburn. At his weekly press conference Tuesday, Spurrier helped unveil this week’s special one-time uniform that’s part of Under Armour’s Wounded Warrior Program that raises money for injured veterans. As for the football talk, Spurrier confirmed he will start senior quarterback Stephen Garcia this week despite his four interceptions against Vanderbilt last week. Spurrier said it’s his job now to help Garcia get his confidence back. The Head Ball Coach also mentioned that Auburn has a much different team this year after losing 18 starters from last year’s national championship team. Sophomore star running back Marcus Lattimore said he thinks the Gamecocks have a chance to do what Auburn did last year if USC executes better the rest of the season. Lattimore said he wants his team to play like its never played before against the Tigers after being embarrassed 56-17 in last year’s SEC championship game.
