Employee stabbed to death at Mount Pleasant store

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) — An employee at a Wal-Mart store in Mount Pleasant has been stabbed to death during a confrontation with another man.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old David Moultrie of Mount Pleasant.

Police Capt. Stan Gragg says witnesses told investigators that the men argued about 3 p.m. Wednesday and one of them pulled a sharp object and stabbed the other.

Investigators had an 18-year-old man in custody but no charges had been filed.

Gragg said he could not talk about the motive.

Officers closed the store for several hours after the stabbing.

Wal-Mart spokeswoman Dianna Gee says Moultrie had worked at the store since December. The store planned to have counselors at the store to help employees cope with the death.
