SC GOP disappointed in Fla. primary plan

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s Republican Party chairman is disappointed that Florida officials have moved their presidential primary to Jan. 31.

Friday’s move by a Florida panel is expected to force South Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada and Iowa to move their primary dates up.

South Carolina GOP Chairman Chad Connelly says Florida’s move could have been avoided. Connelly says rogue states breaking Republican National Committee rules are dictating the presidential primary calendar.

Connelly says the four states permitted to have early contests have been working together.

He won’t say how the state will respond to Florida’s decision. Connelly has a Saturday deadline to announce a date for the South Carolina’s presidential primary.
