SC developer Jim Anthony face financial complaints
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A Travelers Rest bank and a Florida corporation have filed foreclosure complaints against the developer of the luxury Cliffs Communities in upstate South Carolina, saying they are owed millions of dollars.
The Greenville News also reported (http://bit.ly/nmixJe) an investment fund, Urbana Fund I LLC, has filed court papers saying Jim Anthony’s company, The Cliffs Communities, owes more than $1 million in property taxes.
Anthony says he is working on the issues and thinks a solution can be reached in each case.
The Bank of Travelers Rest says it is owed nearly $3 million by Anthony and three firms on a note and mortgage.
William Marcus & Associates Inc. of Florida says it is owned nearly $4 million involving a development where Gary Player is designing a golf course.
