Walk on in, it’s home tour time in NC, SC
YORK, S.C. (AP) — People curious about what’s behind closed doors can come in and have a look around the Carolinas.
The Home of Distinction Tour on Lake Wylie in York, S.C., continues Sunday and benefits a community program headed by former Carolina Panthers player Mike Minter. The $10 ticket opens the door to a single 5,400-square-foot luxury home featuring two copper turrets, one containing the elevated dining room and another featuring the master suite shower.
Charlotte’s Elizabeth neighborhood also has a home tour Sunday, this one featuring seven homes, three gardens and the newly expanded hospital lobby at Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy.
Homes date to the early part of the past century. One 1935 colonial revival house was remodeled using green technology; a 1921 bungalow was topped by a second story.
