Jobs, taxes part of Haley’s SC legislative agenda
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says a new job training program and tax law changes top her legislative agenda.
Haley unveiled her legislative agenda at Winthrop University on Monday as she launched a series of town hall sessions.
Haley says the state needs to do more to train retirees, recent college graduates and people who want to get back into the workforce so they can take jobs that are available.
Haley says she also wants the state’s individual income tax brackets cut to as few as three from the six now on the books. She says the Legislature should eliminate the state’s corporate income tax, and she wants the state’s manufacturing tax reduced greatly.
Legislators return in January.
