Toddler found with BB gun in stolen SUV in SC

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — North Charleston police say an officer approaching a stolen SUV abandoned by a suspect found a 3-year-old child inside holding a BB gun.

Investigators say the child said “gun, gun” as he safely handed over the weapon to an officer Wednesday morning.

The incident started when an officer tried to pull over the SUV because his automated license plate recognition system said the vehicle was stolen. The man pulled the vehicle into a driveway after seeing the officer turn around and ran away.

The child’s mother arrived at the scene later and said the suspect called to tell them where the child was.

The woman told officers where 23-year-old Terrence Myers was hiding, and he was arrested. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
