COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Preparations for the 2011 South Carolina State Fair are well underway, and the food is here, too. “We’re a riding and eating fair, always,” says Nancy Smith, Assistant Manager & Director of Sponsorships with the South Carolina State Fair. As you can imagine if you can think of it, it’s fried even Kool-Aid. “We do have fried Kool-Aid this year, as I understand it’s batter with some Kool-Aid in it,” says Smith. Speaking of food, the doughnut burger was last year’s craze, but this year chicken wings are taking over But, they aren’t just any ordinary chicken wings, they’re stuffed with anything from macaroni and cheese to turkey dressing just in time for Thanksgiving. Hence why they’re called, ‘2 Fat 2 Fly.’ But enough with the food, let’s talk rides. This year kids, it’s all about you. “We’ve got a great new addition our expanded new Kiddy-Land Midway,” says Smith. But adults don’t worry the classics will still be there for you to enjoy. While officials call the South Carolina State Fair a ‘ride and eat’ kind of fair they also say education plays a big role in the event, along with agriculture. “We’ve go a cow this year, ‘Cow-o-lina.’, says Smith. “She’s a fiber glass cow, coal-steam, you can milk the cow and kids can learn to do that. She’s in the Cantey building at the fair and we’re getting her ready for all the kids, but I imagine there may be some adults that will try their hand at that as well, ” says Smith. Whatever makes you happy you are sure to find it at the South Carolina State Fair.
