Woman gets 2 years house arrest in mo-ped wreck
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A 22-year-old woman has been ordered to serve two years of house arrest in her Campobello home after admitting she drove away from a mo-ped wreck that killed a man a year ago.
Jodi Manna pleaded guilty Monday to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Along with home arrest, Circuit Judge Letitia Verdin ordered her not to drive for the next seven years. If she doesn’t follow Verdin’s instructions, she could face up to 15 years in prison.
Investigators say Manna hit 41-year-old Howard Herring as he turned his mo-ped into his job at a Milliken plant after dark in September 2010.
The judge told Manna she would have likely faced only a fine if she had stopped after the wreck.
